How Do I Care for my Wooden Watch?

🌿
Preserving your wooden watch is one of the most important factors in maintaining its appearance and value. Wood is a good alternative material for making watches as it can maintain an elegant and stylish appearance depending on the type and quality. Walnut, sandalwood, rosewood, mahogany and ebony wood are commonly used in watches. They have unique characteristics that distinguish them from each other. If you own a wooden watch or planning to buy one, you should be aware of how to preserve it properly.
🌿
Wood is a natural material which absorbs water, oil and nutrients from the soil. By rubbing just a very thin coat of oil onto your wood wrist watch once in two weeks, you keep your wood watch healthy and prevent the wood from drying up and cracking. You also get to enjoy its natural grain pattern and warm feel.

🌿
Some of the best and most commonly used oils for wooden watches are coconut oil, almond oil, walnut oil or mineral oil. Always be aware of any potential allergies that are common with most nut oils. Baby oil and olive oil are good alternatives.

🌿
When it comes to caring for your wood watch it is a very simple and easy process. Use a soft non-abrasive cloth and apply a few drops of oil. Gently dab onto the wood, make sure all wooden area is oiled. Let it sit overnight, about 12 hours, to make sure the oil soaks into the wood as much as possible. If any oil residue is left after 12 hours, remove any excess oil with a clean, dry cloth.
